MANUFACTURING FINISHES

We've finally wrapped up all manufacturing! It's only a matter of time now until games are in your hands. Here's a quick shot of the final versions, which I just received yesterday:

Wow these turned out so beautiful! A special thanks to the team at Panda, especially Joe Wiggins, for putting in the hard work with me to make these a reality. I am incredibly proud of these games, and I think you'll have the same feeling when you put them on the shelf and you can say you helped bring these to life. We did it team!

On a final note, due to the complexity of the Hexakun Blind Box toys, they will be delivered separately in early 2020 at no extra shipping cost. I will have more news soon on these, they are almost ready!

ADDRESS LOCKING

In around a week I will lock all of the addresses through the Backerkit Survey. If you need to update your address, I suggest doing that now. You will still be able to update your address after this for another few weeks by messaging me, but after that it will not be possible. Which brings us to the next point!

DELIVERY

We are currently looking at a delivery in mid December, as games are being packed and sent to the ships now. It takes roughly 4-6 weeks for the games to make it across the ocean to fulfillment centers if everything goes according to plan, and then another week or two to make it to your door. I will update as things progress, but we should get beautiful gifts just in time for Christmas! If you need anything or have any questions, you know where to reach me at [email protected].

ADDRESS LOCK SOON, FINAL VERSIONS, NEW TIMELINES PAGE!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 18, 2019 at 12:52:31 AM

Hello! In just a few weeks, I will be locking addresses as games get packed onto a ship and head for a fulfillment center near you! Right now the timeline is looking like November for delivery, I will update as we get further along.

On that note, I have added a great new "timelines" page to my website where you can track progress of all current undelivered games with graphical representation. Find out more at jordandraper.com/timelines.

These games came out so cool! Just look at this cool guy standee!

And don't worry, I had your laundry done already, it will be neatly packed in your new washing machines when they arrive.

Did I mention earlier TOKYO GAME SHOW has custom bracelets in it?? They were made just for this game, and they are really really awesome. Those discs and that pin also GLOW IN THE DARK!

Some of you have been asking about Essen pickup, and due to the crazy amount of custom components in these games, they will not be delivered by freight in time for backers to get their games before Essen, so I won't be selling them there or offering pickup.

I hope you're all having a wonderful autumn transition, I just moved to London and the weather has been really nice here. Let me know if you have any questions and I hope to see some of you at EGX or Essen!

TOKYO SERIES FINAL MANUFACTURING

We've finally arrived at the last step before shipping and delivery! It has been a very exciting journey to get to this point, and I'm so proud of these games :D Check out these new component photos below!

HEXAKUN BLIND BOX FIGURES

You can still pre-order these little monsters for a limited time at jordandraper.com/shop. There will only be a limited quantity produced, don't miss your chance to add them to your pre-order for no extra shipping! Did you know you can also use these in the upcoming game 'Wash Machine' as a commander unit? Oh yes!

Hhhhmmm... And someone else is lurking around the corner!

 CURRENCY TORRAKU

There now exist TWO stand alone games for this currency, I just need to write up the rules!

NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT

The first zine in a line of many experimental games, the quality of this is superb. The covers are made from actual linen card material, with a linen tape binding and spot uv finish.

TOKYO COIN LAUNDRY

SWWOOOOSHHHH OH! I'm so excited for this game! The RPG, "Mr.Sudsy's Laundromat" that I co-designed with Luke Crane, is something so unique you won't believe it until you try it! We will be playing a live game on a podcast soon in New York, I'll send a link when everything is lined up :)

TOKYO GAME SHOW

Are you ready for 67 wild and crazy game show games?! The rulebook will be online soon so you can start prepping! Check out a preview of some of the components, and note these are not quite final.

TOKYO TSUKIJI MARKET

Well I have to be honest, with possible exception to the new Import/Export, I think TSUKIJI MARKET may be the most beautiful and interesting heavy economic game I've ever made! It has some truly stunning components.

Thanks again for all of your support! I've been busy updating my website a lot recently, check in often for new and special content or opportunities: jordandraper.com

I'll announce address locking in the next update!

Manufacturing Begins! (Previews Here)
almost 5 years ago – Sat, Jun 15, 2019 at 10:24:50 PM

It's time for all of the hard work, play testing, and design iterations to pay off as we head into mass production! It has been a challenge to work on all 6 games and the extras at once, but I stuck diligently to my high standards, and Panda pushed just as hard to maintain the best quality with new groundbreaking components.

Before we jump into photos of the beautiful new components, here's a timeline update through to delivery:

June: Plastics were approved and the 30 day CNC molds have begun. All artwork has been finished and is going through pre-press approval. Final component samples are received and approved!

July: Rulebooks get final editing and translation, everything else enters mass production (pending printed component approval).

August: Mass production continues.

September: Mass production comes to a close, shipments leave port.

October: Games arrive at warehouses and are sent out for delivery!

This is our current schedule, which still hits the October delivery, but only if everything goes exactly to plan. I'll keep everyone updated as things continue, let's hope for more smooth sailing!

Let's talk Tuna! I wanted to see what these would look like with both a metallic and distressed finish. In the end I quite like the clean light blue color, it has a great contrast with everything else in the game. The large bubble numbers on the left tuna are beautiful though, so those will stay! Best of all, the new 4mm fish barrels that were unlocked as a stretch goal are awesome and very easy to handle (pictured left).

Here are the new eel! You can see their weird dirty distressing on top of a black metallic finish, I love it! The natural disc, which is used to keep track of their market price, also has a nice quality wood grain and finish now compared to the original sample on the right. I'm very happy with these.

CRAZY DIRTY MACKEREL! This distressing turned out completely different than expected, but sometimes that can be wonderful. I really like the one-off texture the second color adds, I think a different dark metallic paint will really pull this all together. You'll have to wait to open your box and see exactly how these custom mackerel turn out!

Here's another shot of the new 4mm fishing barrels on the resin ships, it feels so good to load these ships!

I know what you're thinking, "You had a double folded hem on the bed sheet and STILL expected it to fit in the futon dryer??? Are you mad?!". Yes, yes I was mad. Don't worry, the bed sheets now only have a single folded hem. You're welcome.

The pillow case, now has an opening! The first samples had both sides sewn shut, which was obviously way too unrealistic. We did it!

TOKYO GAME SHOW had a lot of fun samples come in! Shown at the top are the two custom, oversized, wooden dice. In the middle is the host pin, complete with a glow in the dark coloring! The bottom three discs are three of the nine, which also glow-in-the-dark! After they are charged, they glow a bright blue color. I'm very happy with how all of this turned out, stay tuned for the custom contestant bracelets in the next update.

The tooling masters for the new CURRENCY TORRAKU are in, and they are beautiful! You can see the first iterations I received on the right, but the washing machine is too shallow, the details on the front of the truck are a bit small, and the rice cooker is basically a grain of sand... The second try was spot on! These feel great, they are easy to handle, and I already have some games designed as a stand alone for this currency that utilizes these shapes. The final pieces will be all white.

The gold color for the Cactus pieces was a bit bright, so I requested a metallic redish bronze color. I got something a little different, but to be honest it's pretty awesome! I think this new rust will stay as well.

Are you as ready to spin into action as I am?! Everyone put in a hand for Tokyo!

I'll soon be receiving the print components, and new boxes, which will be the very last thing to approve. Thanks for your patience and support, we are nearly there! If anyone has questions or needs anything, you can reach out to me through a message or email at [email protected]

Hexakun, Cards Charging Apr 11th, & Production Update.
about 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 09, 2019 at 01:20:48 AM

久しぶり! (LONG TIME NO SEE!)

I had an amazing time at PAX East, and now I'm back in the office (the Kickstarter office in fact). Here are a few highlights from the event:

First off the booth looked amazing, we had real plants and sitting tables with floor pillows. Itten was able to join and share our booth, so we had their full line up for sale next to the Jordan Draper Games. Thanks again to Nozomi for making the trip out from Tokyo, and to my amazing staff that demoed and ran sales with me!

Hexakun was making a lot of friends, and up to no good. No good at all.. I came home to this email a few days after the show:

Well, I guess cephalopods will be cephalopods.. sigh.

You can still get your own Hexakun plush for $20 by adding it on to your survey! The final version will be very similar to the photos above. Here is a link to access the survey for anyone who needs it: https://tokyo-series-2.backerkit.com

I will be charging cards through Backerkit on the 11th of April, if you have any special requests for timing please send me a message.

PRODUCTION UPDATE

While at PAX East I managed to finalize the design for TOKYO COIN LAUNDRY RPG (tentatively titled "Detergent-Sama"), TOKYO GAME SHOW, and TOKYO WASHI GAME COPS. This is all very exciting news as it also means the games are ready to be edited, translated, and sent off to production! The play test session of Detergent-Sama in the Kickstarter forest at PAX East was brilliant! An old lady spanked someone with a broom, I stole some yen for my cult, two body pillow wives became friends, and a monkey was in the laundromat... Productive and insightful!

At the end of the game, everyone must say one platitude together in unison. One of my favorites is, "I agree with almost everything that you said!".

In one of the ending scenarios, a Purikura machine was put in where one of the washers was supposed to be... So of course it got used! See the proof above. I'll have a special place to host these online after the game is out in the world for those that want to share.

Components

We are rounding the corner toward physical components being prepared, which means that molds will get created after the next week or so. I am just finishing up some final changes on the washing machine windows. With this schedule in mind, we have about a month or so before plastics can begin mass production, and a similar timeframe for rules editing.

Optimistically this gives us a full production start toward the beginning of June, and if things go smoothly (which I often help them to), we should have games on boats mid August, which puts them in fulfillment centers in October. I will update this schedule as things move forward, for now this is the information as it sits!

Until next time, I'll be tightening up the chaos into minimal, beautiful, small boxes. I should have more in depth previews with finalized layouts and components in the next update :) ありがとうございます。

(By the way I'll be at Tokyo Game Market sharing a booth with Jugame Studio at the end of May and demoing games for 2 hours each day in Japanese with Kickstarter! Please come say hello and play games with me!)
